At this year’s Formnext 2024 in Frankfurt, 3D Lab is presenting its ATO Suite, a modular system for the production and processing of metal powders. With technologies such as patented ultrasonic metal atomization and innovative solutions for recycling and material control, 3D Lab aims to make the production of high-quality metal powders more efficient, sustainable and flexible. Visitors can experience the ATO Suite live from November 19 to 22 in Hall 11.0, Stand B21.
The ATO Suite includes devices such as the ATO Lab Plus, a laboratory-grade ultrasonic metal atomizer that enables the production of spherical metal powders. With a compact design and the ability to process both reactive and non-reactive metals, the system is aimed at research facilities and companies of all sizes. For applications involving precious metals, the ATO Noble Atomizer offers specially developed solutions that ensure maximum material recovery.
A central element of the suite is the ATO Induction Melting System (IMS), which can melt reactive and non-reactive metals from various source materials. Users can also recycle 3D printing scrap and convert it into new powder, thereby optimizing material consumption and reducing waste. The system is complemented by the ATO Cast, which produces casting alloys, and the ATO Sieve, which cleans and sieves metal powder in an inert gas atmosphere.
The combination of flexible modules and sustainable processes makes the ATO Suite an efficient solution for additive manufacturing and materials research. According to 3D Lab, the technology enables users to produce their own metal powders from various starting materials while achieving maximum purity and particle size control. This closed-loop material strategy supports a resource-efficient production approach.
At Formnext, 3D Lab will be demonstrating how companies and research institutions can use the ATO Suite to develop innovative materials and establish sustainable manufacturing processes.
