3D-printed hoverboard from “Back to the Future” available as a free 3D model

The maker with the username “Major League Mods” has published a 3D model of the hoverboard from Back to the Future II that is true to the original. The fully printable model is available to download free of charge from Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld platform. It is designed in original size and optimized for multi-colour printing.

The hoverboard takes over 30 hours to print, depending on the settings selected. Around 1.2 kilograms of PLA filament are required for a complete print. The model has been specially optimized for Bambu Lab’s Automatic Material System (AMS) so that it can be printed with multiple colors without manual switching. However, if you do not have an AMS printer, you can also print the model in a single-color version.

The design of the hoverboard is closely based on the movie template, including the typical patterns and details. The dimensions correspond to the prop from the movie. The model is of course not only available for Bambu-Lab printers, but the print files are also available in a standardized format for other printers.
