American 3D printer manufacturer JuggerBot3D is expanding with the purchase of a 2,230 square meter industrial facility in Boardman, Ohio. The company invested $975,000 in the former Spirex and Xaloy factory to expand its capacity for large-format additive manufacturing.
“Over the last six to nine months, it became clear that we needed more space,” explains Zac DiVencenzo, president and co-founder of JuggerBot3D. The manufacturer has reached its limits at its previous location in the Tech Block Building #5 of the Youngstown Business Incubator with 465 square meters.
A key driver of the expansion is a $4 million contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory. JuggerBot3D develops specialized equipment for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The new plant will enable the production of larger systems.
Ursa Major is also setting up a research center for additive manufacturing and material development in rocket engine production in the same building. Both companies are working on projects for the US Department of Defense, primarily in the aerospace sector.
Dan Fernback, Vice President of JuggerBot3D, expects that the company will soon need the entire area of the new site. Currently, 75 percent is occupied. However, JuggerBot3D intends to keep its headquarters in the Youngstown Business Incubator and double its space there.
The founders have also founded the company Yo Industrial Holdings. This is intended to offer other companies from the Mahoning Valley region development opportunities.
