Australian 3D printer manufacturer SPEE3D announced that they will be showcasing their Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) – the complete mobile solution for on-site additive manufacturing – at the Land Forces International Exposition, taking place 11-13 September in Melbourne, Australia, on stand A125.
This mobile manufacturing system, which will be presented for the first time in Australia, combines the XSPEE3D metal printer with the SPEE3Dcell post-processing unit to produce metal parts directly on site in a short time. The entire system is housed in two 20-foot containers, making it particularly flexible and transportable.
The ability to print and test metal parts directly on site not only saves time, but also reduces dependence on long supply chains. This could be particularly beneficial in crisis or operational areas where traditional supply routes are often unreliable.
In addition to presenting the EMU system, SPEE3D is continuing its collaboration with the Australian Department of Defence. As part of this co-operation, the Department has purchased three SPEE3Dcell units to complement the WarpSPEE3D printers already purchased last year. This technology is currently being utilised to support the Ukrainian armed forces in their war effort by enabling the manufacture and repair of equipment directly on site.
“Land Forces is the premier exposition for defence in Australia, and we are excited to display our Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) for the first time at the event,” said Byron Kennedy, CEO of SPEE3D. “We are also proud to continue our partnership with Australian Defence, with their purchase of SPEE3Dcells to complement existing WarpSPEE3D printers. Together, they offer a complete solution for military personnel to manufacture and test metal parts in real-time and at the point of need, helping Ukrainian soldiers stay in the fight.”
The Land Forces International Exposition is considered an important platform for the defence industry in the region and offers companies the opportunity to present their innovations to a broad international audience.
