Legor, which was founded in Italy in 1979 and specializes in the jewelry industry, among other things, wants to “revolutionise” the jewellery and fashion industry with HP’s metal 3D printing technology.
Legor intends to achieve this by including its alloys, powders and electroplating solutions in the Chain of Custody, as well as its 3D Metal Hub. There, the company is researching jewelry made from other materials, such as precious metals or non-metal powders. This is also where long-time partner HP comes in, as it hopes to bring further innovation to the service provider with its extensive 3D printing expertise. With the help of its partner, Legor has already made significant progress in the area of sustainability and the services available to customers.
Now, the company wants to go one step further and use their 3D Metal Hub to fully exploit its potential. In this way, precious metals such as silver, or alloys such as bronze, will soon also be possible at competitive prices and with short lead times.
Legor Group CEO, Massimo Poliero said: “The Legor 3D Metal Hub is an innovation centre for the experimentation and production of precious and non-precious components combining the use of metal powders with BinderJet technology, an alternative method to the classic casting, MIM (Metal Injection Moulding), or SLM (Selective Laser Melting), which allows us to be not only more innovative, but also more sustainable.”
“It is exciting to partner with another company that views sustainability as one of the most important pillars of their business”, shares Ramon Pastor, HP’s Global Head and General Manager, Metal Jet. “We’re looking forward to continuing our Metal Jet partnership with Legor to champion the adoption of 3D printing technology in new and exciting industries while encouraging the adoption of this innovative technology for new applications.”
