3DQue automates door opening on Bambu Lab printers for efficient print farms

With the new “AutoFarm3D Door Opener”, 3DQue is responding to a change in the design of modern desktop 3D printers. While open frame designs have long dominated the market, manufacturers are increasingly turning to closed housings. Bambu Lab in particular has shaped this development with models such as the X1 Carbon and P1P. The high printing speeds and compact design of these devices are attractive to many users – but bring with them new challenges in terms of automation.

3DQue has been developing solutions for the automation of desktop printers for years, in particular for setting up scalable print farms. A key element here is a flexible print bed that automatically releases printed parts after cooling. In open systems, it is sufficient to tilt the printer or program the print head to push finished parts off the platform. In closed systems, however, the door blocks this process.

The new AutoFarm3D Door Opener addresses precisely this problem. The compact device can be mounted on the front door of various Bambu models (X1C, P1S, P1P, E). It enables the door to open automatically as soon as a print job is completed. The print head then ejects the component from the platform – it falls through the open door into a container for collection.

The entire process is controlled via the AutoFarm3D software. In addition to door control and part ejection, the software also manages print jobs, statistical evaluations and status monitoring. This allows a large number of devices to be operated centrally and efficiently.

According to 3DQue, the Door Opener is the first product of its kind for Bambu Lab’s printer series. In view of the increasing use of closed devices in automated environments, the solution should be of particular interest to professional users with high throughput.
