ActivArmor and Create it REAL partner to bring custom cast fabrication into hospitals and clinics

Biomedical technology company, ActivArmor, is partnering with 3D Print Slicing company, Create it REAL, to bring it’s hygienic, waterproof plastic custom cast fabrication into hospitals and clinics across the globe.

ActivArmor’s 3D printed casts are the only sanitizable cast on the market, allowing patients to wash their hands during the Covid-19 global pandemic. The next-gen casts are completely custom – precisely fitting to each patient using a body scan, and designed per the doctor’s prescription, including the ability to expose post-surgical hardware or incisions, and adaptable for use with ultrasound and other advanced technologies.

ActivArmor orthoses are being prescribed for injuries like breaks, sprains, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Charcot Foot, through their website and in top orthopedic clinics across the country. These clinics include St. Luke’s Medical Center, Colorado Institute of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center, Alpine Orthopedics, iOrtho, Central Indiana Orthopedics, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute, to name a few.

ActivArmor is partnering with global hardware and software companies including Twikit, Fusion3, and Create it REAL to decentralize production and offer the full 3D printing package to hospitals and orthopedic clinics for in-house, on-demand fabrication. The package will allow patients to be scanned, the physician to custom-design the cast, and print it on-site in a matter of hours for quick application to the patient.

“We are partnering with Create it REAL to provide automated slicing, customized for our unique products,” says Diana Hall, CEO of ActivArmor. “Fracture care clinics require reliable, integrated software solutions to fabricate consistently high-quality medical devices in house quickly, and we are working with Create it REAL to make that a reality.”

Jacob Nissen, CEO of Create it REAL, says, “We are proud to support ActivArmor in decentralizing the production of their medical casts. The custom-fit design and automatic production is a prime example of how ActivArmor’s domain knowledge and our technology bricks within 3D printing can disrupt manual production, reduce shipping and lead time, and bring mass customization to the market.”
