Additive Innovation, in collaboration with CoreTechnologie, now offers an enhanced 3D printing service that allows customers to select structured surfaces and lattice geometries for their components at no additional cost. The foundation for this is the 4D_Additive software platform, which enables direct application of textures to CAD models and integrates seamlessly into the printing process.
The application of surface textures is based on libraries from Substance and Hewlett Packard, as well as standardized VDI 3400 structures. Texture patterns can be automatically mapped onto part geometries without the need for manual post-processing. Customers submit their 3D data in a standard exchange format, after which the model is textured and prepared for printing within the software. The entire process takes only a few seconds.
Another key feature is the automated generation of lattice structures. Around 20 lattice patterns – ranging from classic honeycomb shapes to organically inspired geometries like gyroids – are available. These structures are especially useful in applications requiring weight reduction or damping properties. The software generates them both inside the component and on its surface, opening up new design possibilities for lightweight construction.
In production, materials such as PA 12 on HP Multi Jet Fusion systems and TPU from AM Polymers are used. The latter is processed using the Weirather WLS 3232 system and allows for print densities of up to 5 bar. Additionally, Additive Innovation offers fully automated repair of STL files from 3D scans, enabling direct processing of geometry data without manual rework.
By integrating 4D_Additive software, the company combines CAD-oriented data preparation with industrial 3D printing, specifically targeting the demands of functional prototyping and small series production.
