Irpd AG from St. Gallen is supplying one of its modular metal 3D printing machines, the IMPACT 4530, to Ecoparts in Hinwil for the first time. For both companies, the purchase of the machine marks a step towards closer cooperation in the field of industrial additive manufacturing. According to Ecoparts, the decision in favor of the IMPACT 4530 was made primarily due to the flexible system architecture, the large component size and the automation prospects.

The IMPACT 4530 has a build volume of 450 × 300 × 400 millimetres and can be operated with two or four fiber lasers with 1,000 watts each. As a result, the system achieves high build rates and is designed for demanding series applications in the metal sector. A flexible container concept enables fast material changes, and an automatic coating lip changer supports continuous operation. The machine can be scaled from a stand-alone system to an automated production network.

Ecoparts sees the system as an opportunity to expand its own production spectrum.

“We have found the ideal partner in Ecoparts as a market leader in the service sector. We are looking forward to further developing the systems together and adapting them to market requirements following valuable input from Ecoparts,” explains Stefan Lang, CEO of Irpd AG.

Denis Forster, CEO of Ecoparts, emphasizes: “It is important for us to shape the future together with a strong local partner. IMPACT offers us the opportunity to achieve very high productivity and manufacture parts in a wide variety of metals.”

For Irpd, the collaboration with Ecoparts, a service provider specializing in additive manufacturing, represents a strategic gain.

Daniel Kündig, co-founder and Head of Technology at Ecoparts, adds: “We were impressed by the IMPACT machine concept. We can expand our range and benefit from the latest technological developments. What is particularly interesting for us is that the system can be automated relatively easily at a later date using robotics. We are therefore opting for a future-proof solution.”

Adrian Helbling, co-founder and Head of Marketing and Sales at Ecoparts, explains: “We have been seeing a demand for larger parts in the industry for some time. With the IMPACT, we can now produce such components in one piece and thus offer customers new possibilities.”
