The use of 3D printing in the manufacture of sports equipment is becoming increasingly important. The companies Reinforce 3D and Bauer Hockey have announced a strategic partnership to further develop additive manufacturing with continuous carbon fiber injection (CFIP). The aim of the collaboration is to improve the strength and lightness of sports equipment without compromising its structural integrity.
CFIP technology makes it possible to inject carbon fibres directly into printed components and thus optimize their mechanical properties in a targeted manner. Compared to conventional 3D printing processes, which usually use short-fiber-reinforced composite materials, continuous carbon fiber injection results in higher resilience and an improved strength-to-weight ratio. These properties are particularly important for high-performance sports, where both durability and light weight are crucial.
