The London-based software company Aibuild and Bavarian machine builder Reichenbacher Hamuel are pooling their expertise to control hybrid manufacturing systems that combine CNC machining and 3D printing more intelligently. The strategic partnership aims to link multi-axis hybrid machines with AI-driven toolpath optimization and thermal simulation, making the production of complex parts more economical. Reichenbacher’s systems are already used in aerospace, mobility and specialized manufacturing and will in future be directly integrated with Aibuild’s software platform.

“Our partnership with Reichenbacher represents the fusion of powerful hardware with intelligent software automation,” explains Michail Desyllas, COO and co-founder of Aibuild. “By integrating our AI-driven toolpath and thermal simulation capabilities, we enable manufacturers to achieve a new level of precision, efficiency and flexibility in the production of complex parts.”

Instead of hybrid CNC systems that require labor-intensive manual programming, users will in future be able to rely on automated strategies that synchronize layer build-up, support structures, heat input and subsequent machining.

The platform analyzes part geometry and process parameters, calculates optimized paths for the additive build and defines machining strategies for milling. This makes it possible to reduce production times and material consumption while improving part quality through controlled thermal management. For tool- and fixture-makers in aerospace, automotive and composite manufacturing, this opens up the possibility of building up parts locally, selectively reinforcing functional zones and removing excess material by machining only where it is truly needed.

“This collaboration marks the beginning of a new era in manufacturing, where intelligence, precision and creativity come together,” says Dr. Alexander Kawalla-Nam, Head of Additive Manufacturing Technologies at Reichenbacher Hamuel. “Combining our expertise in building hybrid machines and CNC milling systems with Aibuild’s AI-driven automation enables systems that can adapt and optimize in real time – a step toward truly connected new production processes.”

Daghan Cam, CEO and co-founder of Aibuild, says: “Linking our software platform with Reichenbacher’s manufacturing expertise creates a powerful solution, particularly for SMEs and specialized manufacturers across Europe. They gain access to technologies that were previously reserved mainly for large manufacturers – while retaining flexibility and adaptability.”

By combining adaptive AI software with established mechanical engineering, a smart manufacturing solution is emerging that tightly integrates additive and subtractive processes. For precision-focused manufacturers looking to boost their competitiveness through automated, data-driven production, this partnership is likely to be an important building block in expanding hybrid 3D printing processes.
