Airwolf 3D Launches Axiom 2 Dual Extruder 3D Printer

U.S.-based desktop 3D printer manufacturer Airwolf 3D has launched the AXIOM 2. Based on the previous model, the new dual extruder printer will enable users to print with unique material combinations.

The independently controlled hotends allow for printing in two different colours or creating parts with soluble support material. The improved Dual JrX Hotend reaches temperatures of up to 315°C and is designed to resist clogs.

Moreover, the AXIOM 3D printer with a build volume of 12.5″ x 8″ x 10″ (317.5 mm x 203.2 mm x 254) features a fully enclosed print chamber, providing thermal stability, as well as auto levelling, ensuring optimal bed levelling and head spacing before starting each print. The End-User Replaceable Cassette (ERC) enables for components to be quickly replaced or installed by the user, while the CoreXY motion control system ensures print quality, precision and a printing speed of up to 250 mm/s.

The AXIOM 2 sets the new standard in multi-material desktop 3D printing,” states Erick Wolf, founder and chairman of Airwolf 3D. “We can independently control the temperature of two separate, high temperature, print heads to create material combinations not previously possible such as polycarbonate and ABS hybrid parts having high rigidity in some areas and ductility in others.”

The Axiom 2 Dual Extruder 3D printer comes with a price tag of $ 4,995 and will have its debut at the Pacific Design & Manufacturing Show in Anaheim from February 9th to 11th, 2016. Airwolf 3D currently takes pre-orders with shipments starting in early March.
