AM Solutions presents innovations at Formnext 2024

At Formnext 2024, AM Solutions presented new developments for automated post-processing in 3D printing. These innovations underline the importance of efficient post-processing solutions for the industrial use of additive manufacturing.

“Automated post-processing is critical for enhancing efficiency, improving quality, and reducing costs per part”, stated David Soldan, Head of AM Solutions – 3D post processing technology. “Many post-processing steps are still manual, making them time-consuming and costly while limiting reproducibility. Addressing this challenge is key to the industrialization of additive manufacturing.”

One highlight was the further development of the tried-and-tested S2 system. The system offers a 25 percent increase in efficiency thanks to an optimized circulation system for blasting media. The robust PU conveyor belt ensures gentle handling and consistent surface quality, while a new drum separator improves cleaning even at high throughput rates. One of the first customers for the new version is the Italian 3D printing specialist Weerg, which purchased two additional S2 systems at the trade fair. “We’ve made a great product even better with the new version of our proven S2”, explained David Soldan.

Another focal point was the introduction of the C1 Max, a solution for large-format SLA construction platforms. Developed in collaboration with Sauber Motorsport, the system combines chemical, thermal and mechanical processes to clean components efficiently and remove support structures without damaging the material. The automated solution reduces post-processing work by 50 percent and uses environmentally friendly process media.

AM Solutions also presented a 3-in-1 solution developed in cooperation with Stratasys. The PowderEase T1 system combines powder removal, powder recovery and powder dosing for the H350 SAF printers. One system can serve up to six printers and significantly reduces the post-processing time per job.

Together with EOS, AM Solutions has also developed a new 2-in-1 system for the P3 series. This combines the depowdering and mixing of fresh and recycled powder in one machine and enables flexible mixing ratios even for small batches. The partnership shows how post-processing solutions can further industrialize and optimize additive manufacturing.
