The Swedish company AMEXCI has opened a new production facility for metal-based additive manufacturing in Örebro. The 4,700 square meter facility is designed for the series production of complex metal components and is intended to meet the increasing demands for efficiency, material utilization and automation. The new site strengthens AMEXCI’s position as a central partner for industrial 3D printing applications in Sweden and Finland.
AMEXCI was founded in 2017 on the initiative of Marcus Wallenberg with the aim of promoting the industrial use of additive manufacturing in the Nordic industry. The company is supported by a consortium of owners, including FAM, Saab, Scania and Ericsson. With currently 35 employees, AMEXCI offers services along the entire process chain – from prototype development to series production.
During the opening ceremony, Saab CEO Micael Johansson emphasized the practical importance of metal 3D printing for highly specialized applications, such as in maritime defence. For example, a component for submarine propulsion systems that previously consisted of 609 individual parts could be replaced by a single additively manufactured part. Scania emphasized the importance of the technology for sustainable mobility solutions, especially with regard to shortened development cycles. Ericsson also emphasized the benefits of additive manufacturing for the development of future product generations.
In addition to production capacities, the new facility also includes analysis and testing equipment for material characterization. During a guided tour, around 70 guests were given an insight into the production chain – from powder processing to the finished component.
“We are incredibly proud of what this new facility represents,” said Edvin Resebo, CEO of AMEXCI. “It’s not just an investment in technology and infrastructure—it’s an investment in the future of sustainable manufacturing and in our customers’ success.”
