AML3D doubles production in the USA after a capital increase of 30 million

3D printer manufacturer AML3D has raised AUD 30 million through an institutional placement to expand its US manufacturing facility in Ohio, establish a presence in Europe and further develop its technology.

Around 12 million dollars are to be invested for this purpose. The aim is to meet the demand of the US Department of Defense, which awarded Blue Forge Alliance a 951 million dollar contract in September 2024 to strengthen the submarine industry. AML3D has already delivered several ARCEMY systems to the US Navy and expects demand for this technology to increase. Additionally, the company plans to establish a second facility in the U.S. to more efficiently assemble and distribute the systems.

AML3D’s Chief Executive Officer, Sean Ebert, commented “The decision in September by the US Department of Defense to award Blue Forge an additional US$951 million of funds is expected to help accelerate the adoption of AML3D’s ARCEMY technology. My understanding is a reasonable proportion of the new funds will be directed to scaling up and integrating additive manufacturing into the US Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base. The completion of this A$30 million capital raising provides AML3D with the funds to scale up our US operations to maximise this opportunity. The Placement also allows us to accelerate development of our software and technology to maintain our market leading position in additive manufacturing, to maintain our competitive advantage and drive growth and value creation for our new and existing shareholders.”

AML3D also wants to open up new markets in Europe. There are plans to set up a technology center with an ARCEMY system as a demonstration and production facility. This is intended to support demand in the region, particularly in connection with the AUKUS partnerships, which promote the expansion of additive manufacturing technologies.

In addition to expanding production capacity, AML3D plans to invest around 3 million dollars in research and development. The aim is to further develop the software and technology in order to expand the application possibilities of wire-arc manufacturing technology and ensure the company’s competitiveness.

President of AML3D’s US President, Pete Goumas, said “I’ve been leading AML3D’s US operations for a little over a year now. In that time, we have established a state-of-the-art technology centre and manufacturing facility in Ohio, while continuing to win new contracts. I have recruited some of the best and brightest to build out our technical, sales and service teams. It is really exciting to see this surge in investment into additive manufacturing by the US Department of Defense, particularly into the Submarine Industrial Base where AML3D has been building its presence. The US team is fully primed and ready to rapidly expand our operations and people to meet this new and potentially significant demand for our technology.”

The next phase of the corporate strategy involves not only scaling up production, but also establishing new partnerships and optimizing existing manufacturing processes in order to secure long-term global growth.
