APWorks Will Produce Fifty Amazing e-Motorcycles Named Light Rider

APWorks, 3D printing specialist of the Airbus Group, presents a 3D printed electric motorcycle – the Light Rider.

We already saw 3D printed bikes that take advantage of additive manufacturing but very rarely we have seen a motorised cycle. The electro motorcycle Light Rider sets new standards.

The design of Light Rider’s frame takes advantage of the capabilities of SLS technology. Also, the team designed the frame of optimised bionic structures. The material they used is Scalmalloy, a material which is used by APWorks for aerospace. All in all the bike weighs 35 kg, thats why its called Light Rider (also its a pun to the 80s TV series Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff which is/was very popular in Germany).

“With the Light Rider we at APWorks demonstrate our vision of future urban mobility”, says engineer Stefanus Stahl.

The Light Rider has a range of 60km and gets you up to 80km/h. And its acceleration is also very fast. It only takes three seconds to get up to 45km/h.

“We have used our know how of optimization and manufacturing, to create means of transportation, that match our expectations”, explains APWorks’s Niels Grafen: Exceptionally strong, impressivly lightweight and of the highest quality.

You can preorder the 50.000€ special edition Light Rider with a deposit of 2.000€.
