ARRIS Composites has announced a partnership with Henry Repeating Arms to develop new lightweight components for firearms. The collaboration leverages ARRIS’ expertise in fiber-reinforced composite materials, which, in combination with additive manufacturing technologies, enable high strength at reduced weight. The first components are set to be launched on the market in the second quarter of 2025.
The ARRIS technology is based on a process known as “additive molding”. This involves manufacturing fiber-reinforced thermoplastic structures in a high-volume process. This method makes it possible to produce precise components with specifically aligned fibre structures in order to optimize specific mechanical properties.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Henry Repeating Arms, a brand synonymous with American craftsmanship and quality,” said Riley Reese, CEO of ARRIS Composites. “Our composite technology provides a unique opportunity to design and manufacture firearm components made in the United States that outperform traditional metal parts in both weight and performance.”
The integration of fiber-reinforced composites in firearms production is expected to bring both weight advantages and improved mechanical properties. The use of such materials could offer better ergonomics and greater stability, particularly for hunting weapons and sporting rifles.
“At Henry Repeating Arms, we are always in search of cutting-edge ways to improve the form and function of our products,” said Andrew Wickstrom, President of Henry Repeating Arms. “Partnering with ARRIS Composites allows us to look beyond what’s been done before and push the boundaries of what’s possible with innovative materials, ensuring we continue delivering best-in-class firearms made in America.”
ARRIS was founded in 2017 and has developed a patented manufacturing technology for high-performance composites. The company has been recognized multiple times for its innovations, including by Fast Company and the Business Intelligence Group Innovation Award. In addition to industrial applications, ARRIS recently launched AURORRA, a brand for consumer products based on its material technologies. With this new partnership, the company continues its expansion in the field of additive manufacturing of high-performance components.
