Artec Studio 19: New software expands 3D scanning and modeling capabilities

Artec 3D, a provider of 3D scanning technologies, has launched the latest version of its software: Artec Studio 19 (AS19). The software offers advanced features for 3D scanning, data processing, reverse engineering and quality inspection. With the introduction of AI photogrammetry and further optimizations, AS19 is aimed at both professionals and beginners in 3D technology.

AS19 integrates the processing of data from various sources such as 3D scanners, photos and videos. The new AI photogrammetry allows the creation of precise 3D models from conventional images taken with smartphones or cameras. This function is based on neural algorithms that can reconstruct even complex surfaces such as shiny or transparent materials in great detail.

The software is compatible with all current Artec scanners, including technologies such as LiDAR, structured light and laser. A new feature is support for the Artec Point laser scanner, which delivers metrologically precise data. In addition, AS19 enables export to the widely used USDZ format, which is particularly suitable for augmented reality applications.

Artec Studio 19 also improves the speed and efficiency of workflows. New algorithms significantly accelerate the processing of 3D data, making the creation of polygon meshes and textures up to twice as fast as in the previous version. At the same time, tools such as auto-surfacing have been optimized to convert scans into CAD-compatible models more quickly.

AS19 opens up new fields of application, from architecture and manufacturing to forensics. For example, it allows drone images to be combined with laser scans to create precise models of large construction projects. The software also offers an ideal platform for teaching 3D technologies to pupils and students in the education sector.

Artec Studio 19 is available now and will be presented at the Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt.
