Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) and high-performance 3D printing specialist Roboze are planning a joint manufacturing center for additive processes in Bahrain. The facility is being built on ASRY’s shipyard site and is intended to serve as industrial infrastructure for maritime maintenance as well as for the oil and gas industry, energy, aerospace, and the security sector. The signing of the cooperation agreement in the presence of political representatives from Bahrain and Italy underlines that the project is embedded in the strategic industrial policy of both states.

From a technical perspective, the center focuses on components made from superpolymers and fiber-reinforced composites. Roboze is contributing systems capable of producing parts with high temperature and chemical resistance that can replace or complement conventional metal components in certain applications. End-to-end, digitized workflows are planned, from the CAD model through print preparation and production all the way to quality assurance. The goal is on-demand production of functional components that ideally flow directly into MRO processes within the shipyard area.

Dr. Ahmed AlAbri, CEO of ASRY, stated: “This partnership strengthens our MRO capabilities and expands access to advanced technical components that are essential to the industries we serve.”

Alessio Lorusso, CEO of Roboze, commented: “Working with ASRY allows us to introduce a concrete, operations-driven production model tailored to the needs of high-demand sectors, from marine repair to critical applications in energy and defense.”

Roboze sees the cooperation as an opportunity to anchor its production model in an environment with high requirements for qualification and traceability.
