The U.S.-based company Azure Printed Homes has been included in TIME magazine’s “Best Inventions 2025” list. The editors recognized the company’s innovative building concept, which uses 3D printing with recycled materials to create modular structures. According to TIME, Azure is among the 300 innovations that could sustainably change everyday life.

Founded in 2022, Azure Printed Homes specializes in the use of additive manufacturing for construction. Instead of conventional building materials, the company employs recycled plastics to print load-bearing structural components. The goal is to produce energy-efficient and affordable housing units faster and with fewer resources than traditional building methods. According to the company, buildings can be constructed up to 70 percent faster and about 30 percent cheaper using this approach.

“We’re deeply honored to be recognized by TIME as one of the most innovative companies in the world,” said Gene Eidelman, co-founder of Azure Printed Homes. “Our mission has always been to transform housing through technology that’s sustainable, scalable, and accessible. This recognition validates that vision and inspires our continued commitment to reimagining construction for communities everywhere.”

The company has already produced and delivered over 100 modular units, including residential homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and temporary shelters. The construction method is particularly suited for projects where time and material efficiency are critical, such as post-disaster reconstruction programs or affordable housing initiatives.

Azure is currently expanding its production capacity. In addition to its existing facility in Los Angeles, a new 25,000-square-foot plant is being built in Denver, scheduled to open by March 2026. This expansion responds to growing demand for sustainable construction concepts in the United States, particularly in reforestation initiatives, tourism developments, and eco-friendly residential projects.

Azure Printed Homes’ approach demonstrates how additive manufacturing is becoming increasingly established in the construction industry. By using recycled materials and digital production processes, it becomes clear how 3D printing can offer a practical solution to both ecological and economic challenges in modern building.
