
With PLA Translucent, Bambu Lab offers a special filament that is specifically aimed at users who want to print translucent objects with aesthetic appeal. The material is available in ten colors, including classic pastel shades and more striking variants. The matt surface ensures even light diffusion and is particularly suitable for applications such as lampshades. Or vases and decorative elements in the style of frosted glass.
The manufacturer has developed the material on the basis of standard PLA and specifically improved it in terms of ageing resistance and impact strength. Compared to conventional transparent PLA filaments, Bambu PLA Translucent demonstrates greater resilience and stability during prolonged indoor use. Thanks to its full compatibility with other PLA types, it can also be used to create multi-colored or textured printed objects with transparent accents – for example by changing colors during the printing process.
Use on PEI or SuperTack printing plates at temperatures between 35 and 65 °C is recommended. The print nozzle should be set to 200 to 240 °C. A printing speed below 150 mm/s and dry storage below 20 % relative humidity are crucial for optimum results. The drying recommendation is 50 °C for 8 hours to avoid moisture absorption. The mechanical properties are in the typical range for PLA, with a tensile strength of 55 MPa and a Vicat softening temperature of 61 °C.
The filament has an RFID identifier that is compatible with Bambu Lab’s AMS system. This allows the printer to recognize all parameters automatically, which simplifies the printing process. One spool costs 28.22 euros.
