A picture recently published on Reddit could point to an as yet unannounced 3D printer from Bambu Lab. The photo apparently shows a packaging insert labeled “Bambu Lab H2D Combo”. There is no official confirmation of the device yet.
The picture shows the following dimensions for the H2D 492 x 514 x 626 mm. Compared to the external dimensions of Bambu Lab’s current X1C model, this could indicate an estimated print volume of around 350 x 350 x 420 mm. This would be a larger build volume than Bambu Lab’s previous top model (X1C: 256 x 256 x 256 mm).
The name “H2D” possibly indicates a dual extrusion function in which two nozzles are used. One active die could be lowered and the inactive one raised to avoid interference. This technology would make material changes more efficient and reduce the usual loss of material during purging.
Another point is the supplied “AMS 2 Pro” system, which is presumably optimized for multi-material printing. Compared to the previous AMS module, it could offer additional functions such as material drying, an important feature for hygroscopic high-temperature materials. The combination of a larger build volume and the potential support of high-temperature materials could bring Bambu Lab into direct competition with industrial devices.
As recently as October 2024, Bambu Lab announced that it was postponing the launch of new 3D printers until early 2025. Dr. Tao, CEO and co-founder of Bambu Lab, explains the delay.
“We are developing a product that will push the boundaries of what is possible in consumer 3D printing. The extra time will ensure that we deliver on this promise and deliver a product that is fully mature and supported globally.”
