Bambu Lab’s printers are very popular and have spawned a growing ecosystem of third-party accessories. One of the latest products in this area is the “Panda Jetpack” from BigTreeTech, a BIQU brand. It is an alternative tool head cover for the Bambu Lab P1 and X1 series models.
The jetpack is made of nylon and is printed using the Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) process on HP industrial equipment. BigTreeTech promises high heat resistance and durability. The manufacturer cites two main reasons for replacing the standard cover: a reduction in the weight of the tool head and improved internal cooling.
According to BigTreeTech, a lighter tool head housing should reduce the moving mass and thus improve the dynamics of the printer. Less weight means less inertia, which could theoretically lead to less vibration.
The second stated advantage relates to cooling. The Panda Jetpack is designed to prevent heated filament from moving unwantedly into the cold area of the hotend, which can lead to blockages. Although such problems occasionally occur with 3D printers, they are not widespread with Bambu-Lab devices. AMS filament management, in particular, usually ensures reliable recirculation of the material.
In addition to these technical aspects, the Jetpack primarily changes the design of the print head. BigTreeTech offers the option of integrating your own logos or designs on the cover. This could make the accessory interesting for users who want to customize the look of their devices.
BIQU charges around 39 euros for the Panda Jetpack.
