The 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab is expanding its range of model generators on the company’s own Makerlab platform. The new “Lightbox Maker” tool can be used to create individually designed lightboxes that are directly optimized for multi-colour printing with Bambu printers.
The Lightbox Maker allows users to upload their own images or graphics. It mainly supports motifs with simple color areas, such as cartoons or logos. The generator processes the templates into a printable 3D model with predefined depth. Users can add text elements in different fonts. An integrated color palette allows the global or selective assignment of colors.
After configuration, the tool automatically creates the 3D model of the light box, which is displayed in advance as a preview in the browser. The generated data set contains the structured front side including cut-outs for LED backlighting. For the lighting, Bambu Lab recommends the matching LED strips, which are available in the company’s own store “Maker’s Supply”.
The Lightbox Maker complements other generators from Bambu Lab, which are aimed at users without previous CAD knowledge. The aim is to create visually appealing and functional models with just a few clicks that are directly compatible with the company’s own AMS-capable printing systems. Despite optimization for your own ecosystem, export as a standardized 3MF file is possible.
