Bambu Lab releases new slicer version BambuStudio 2.0

With version 2.0 of its BambuStudio slicer software, Bambu Lab is introducing a series of targeted improvements for users of current 3D printer models – especially for the new H2D dual extruder model. The software serves as a central tool for preparing and managing print jobs on all of the manufacturer’s devices. The updated version is being released alongside the launch of the H2D.

A central focus of the new version is on revised user guidance. The previous risk of confusion between nozzle and printer selection has been defused by a clearer display. This is Bambu Lab’s response to a frequent problem in the operation of the program. In addition, when loading a .3MF model, BambuStudio now recognizes whether it matches the current printer configuration and, if necessary, suggests the appropriate preset change.

The integration of the AMS (Automatic Material System) has also been improved. Among other things, this affects the synchronization of the spool information and its display – particularly with regard to the new dual extrusion system. Separate presets can now be created for different nozzle types.

Particularly relevant for owners of an H2D is the extended support for handling two extruders. Three filament assignment modes are available. Filament saving mode minimizes material loss, but may require manual adjustments to the printer hardware. Convenience mode uses the existing filament and AMS configuration and focuses on ease of use, but tolerates more waste. With Custom Mode, filament groups can be configured specifically – per plate or using the hover function during slicing.

These functions should not only save material, but also make the printing process more efficient and easier to plan. Further details and downloads can be found directly on GitHub.
