Bambu Labs MakerWorld expands platform with laser and cut model functions

The 3D model platform MakerWorld from Chinese manufacturer Bambu Lab has released a series of functional and content enhancements. The focus is on a new category for models that have been processed for laser and cutting plotters. The platform is thus specifically expanding its range in this direction. This is also due to the new Bambu Lab H2D 3D printer. The new device from Bambu not only has a 3D printing function, but also a laser cutting function.

At the same time, MakerWorld has revised its community and upload guidelines. The definition of so-called “remixes” is particularly emphasized. The mere removal or addition of logos, texts or surface textures from existing models will no longer be classified as a remix in future, but as a duplicate. This is intended to increase the quality of platform content and the visibility of independently created models.

The handling of non-model files has also been clarified. These include user-defined G-code files and presets for printer or filament profiles. Separate upload requirements now apply for laser and cut models.
