Barclays Supports Local Business with Maker Spaces Equipped with 3D Printers

British banking company Barclays has introduced “Eagle Labs” to its customers by offering floor space to startups and students equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters and technicians.

Two different types of spaces will be provided, including an Incubator zone with shared workspaces for like-minded entrepreneurs to network, and dedicated MakerSpaces. Additionally, a Lab Manager and Lab technician will be around to train users on the equipment and technology.

Pilot programs for MakerSpaces have already started in Cambridge and Bournemoth, with a third one to follow in Brighton. Barclays plans to open a total of 20 Eagle Labs by the end of this year.
