Prusa Research, which is known for its high-quality 3D printers and prusament filaments, is now expanding its range with the new Buddy3D product line. This includes filaments as well as accessories and, in future, other products that will be manufactured by external partners. With Buddy3D, Prusa Research not only aims to meet the increasing demand, but also to guarantee the high quality for which the company is known.
The new filaments are a central component of Buddy3D. A total of 46 variants, including colors such as sandstone and materials such as ABS ESD, significantly expand the portfolio. Production takes place exclusively in the EU, meaning that the spools are characterized by precise winding and a constant diameter of ±0.04 mm. This creates a cost-efficient alternative, especially for materials that are not available in the Prusament range. Prices start at USD 21.90.
In addition to the filaments, the Buddy3D camera is also being introduced. This enables remote monitoring of printing processes via Prusa Connect and the mobile app. Thanks to the integrated IR lighting, the camera even works in complete darkness, and its robust design also allows it to be used in temperatures of up to 65 °C. This makes it ideal for closed printing environments. Set-up is particularly user-friendly as it is carried out using a QR code-based process. Furthermore, future updates will enable additional functions such as live streams and remote positioning.
The camera is manufactured in collaboration with a Czech company and is equipped with Prusa’s own firmware to optimize both security and performance. The price is USD 39.99, making the camera an attractive option for professional and private users.
