South Korean 3D printer manufacturer Carima has unveiled their im-j DLP 3D printer, equipped with a LED UV light source that can last around 20,000 hours (up to 7 times longer than existing DLP printers).
Carima has developed a range of 3D printers over the last few years, including the 4S device working with their proprietary C-CAT technology (CARIMA-Continuous Additive 3D Printing Technology), that works up to 400 times faster than existing technologies.
The im-j with a build area of 96 x 54 x 150 mm and a 50 µm resolution on the X and Y axes is targeted at the jewellery market and was first unveiled at the Hong Kong Jewellery Show this year. It is capable to print in four different layer solutions, from 0.1 mm to 0.025 mm.
The printer will initially be launched on the Asian market, with other countries to follow.
