Centauri Carbon: New Elegoo 3D printer costs 330 euros

Chinese 3D printer manufacturer Elegoo unveiled its new Centauri Carbon 3D printer a few weeks ago. The new device combines an advanced CoreXY system with high-speed printing and a wide range of automation functions. With a maximum speed of 500 mm/s and an acceleration of up to 20,000 mm/s², the device is one of the faster printers in its class. The printer is particularly optimized for printing technical materials such as carbon fibre-reinforced plastic. The company has now not only announced the price, but pre-orders are also now possible.

The hotend reaches a temperature of up to 320 °C and is equipped with a hardened steel nozzle that has been specially developed for abrasive materials such as carbon fiber or glass fiber filaments. A heated print bed with up to 110 °C ensures reliable adhesion, while a fully enclosed build chamber reaches temperatures of up to 60 °C. This reduces warping in high-temperature filaments and improves print quality.

The Centauri Carbon comes with a range of automation functions, including fully automatic calibration. These include auto-bed leveling, Z-offset adjustment, vibration and pressure-advance calibration. These features reduce printer set-up time and improve print quality at high speeds.

An integrated camera enables real-time monitoring of the printing process. It not only allows a live view, but can also create time-lapse recordings. Other convenient functions such as automatic filament unloading, semi-automatic belt tensioning and a system for resuming printing after a power failure make the device particularly user-friendly.

For improved print quality, Centauri Carbon relies on an active vibration compensation system that minimizes ghosting or ringing at high printing speeds. In addition, adaptive print feed control ensures consistent material extrusion and cleaner layers. A powerful cooling system with several fans helps to ensure that even complex geometries with high overhangs can be printed reliably.

The housing consists of a sturdy aluminum construction. A flexible print bed with double-sided coating allows easy removal of prints, while a magnetic nozzle cover reduces maintenance. An integrated air filter minimizes the emission of particles and odors from high-temperature materials.

The 3D printer is currently priced at 329.99 euros. Delivery is scheduled to begin on March 31, 2025.
