Chicago Additive launches AMOS 3D printer series on the market

The US company Chicago Additive has secured a co-exclusive license for the patent “Advanced Manufacturing Operational Apparatus, System, and Method”. The license was developed together with the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) and forms the technological basis of the new 3D printer series called AMOS. The target groups are industrial users, educational institutions and, in particular, military users.

The AMOS series comprises the AMOS 200, 300 and 500 models. The printers have been specially developed for robust operating conditions and offer a closed installation space, integrated material storage, optional heatable printing chambers and automated humidity control. All devices are based on a Core XY motion system with high-quality components such as linear guides, pulleys and aluminum profiles. The printing speed is between 250 and 500 mm/s, depending on the model. A specially developed motion controller from a British partner ensures precise control of the printing processes.

The middle model, the AMOS 300, offers an installation space of 300 × 300 × 220 mm and can be mounted in standard server racks. It is therefore particularly suitable for modular production environments or networked print farms. The more compact AMOS 200 fits into a hand luggage-compatible transport housing, while the AMOS 500 offers the largest size with an edge length of 500 mm and can be optionally equipped with castors and a stand.

Chicago Additive has tested the first AMOS units in the field as part of the international marine exercise RIMPAC. Production takes place in a specially equipped production line at the Demotte, Indiana site. The first printers are scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025. Further models will follow in the third quarter.
