Chromatic 3D Materials, a provider of additive manufacturing technologies, has completed a USD 6 million financing for its third capital increase.
In addition, the company aims to further improve its technological performance by combining industrial chemistry and additive manufacturing technologies. The funds were part of the company’s third equity round, which involved both new and existing investors.
“Chromatic delivers the material performance and technology required to make manufacturing more responsive and sustainable,” said Chromatic founder and CEO Cora Leibig. “With this financing, we’ll be driving implementation of our technology across several markets and continuing to expand our market reach.”
Chromatic focuses on the production of high-performance materials that are used in additive manufacturing. These materials not only improve the responsiveness of production, but also offer more sustainable solutions for various industries.
The company has raised more than $15 million in funding since its inception, including in 2018 and 2021, which was used to build a resin production facility in the US and a printer production facility in Germany, among others. In 2023, Chromatic introduced its RX-Flow 3D printers, which are experiencing growing demand in the consumer goods, industrial and aerospace sectors in both the US and Europe.
“From our first investment, I was convinced that Chromatic was delivering a truly novel and necessary technology to the additive manufacturing space,” said Embedded Ventures cofounder and general partner Jordan Noone. “The applications in the pipeline, particularly in aerospace, are transformative, and I’m excited to support the company through implementation and commercialization.”
Chromatic is particularly focussed on the development of new, flexible material types that are used in sectors such as the textile, automotive and hydraulics industries. Previous projects include the supply of 1,600 cable bushings for Daimler truck buses and components for over 250 ÖBB rail vehicles. The materials developed by Chromatic offer a new perspective for elastomer production processes and are being further developed in several markets together with industrial partners.
Chromatic also has a growing patent portfolio, which already includes 10 patents, while over 25 further patent applications are still pending.
