The Turkish company Co Print has developed a system that can be used to add multicolor capabilities to conventional FFF 3D printers. The aim is to enable even low-cost desktop 3D printers to produce multicolor and multimaterial prints. Co Print has developed a system that works in a similar way to solutions from other suppliers such as Bambu Lab, processing multiple filaments through a single nozzle.
Co Print’s core system consists of a bundle made up of extruders, controllers and tool heads. The standard configuration processes up to four colors simultaneously. With customer-specific adaptations, this number can be increased to up to 20 colors.
Another advance is the integration of Klipper, a firmware that is optimized for high printing speeds. This solves a common problem with multicolor systems: reduced printing speed. Thanks to Klipper, even modified devices can now maintain high print speeds without compromising on color variety.
In collaboration with Creality, Co Print recently successfully integrated the system into the popular Ender-3 V3 Plus 3D printer. In addition to multicolor capabilities, the system also supports various materials, such as soluble support material. This allows complex geometries to be realized with cleanly detachable supports, which expands the areas of application.
The cost of the system is manageable with an introductory price of 289.90 US dollars. Co Print thus offers a cost-effective alternative to established solutions such as Bambu Lab’s AMS system, without users having to sacrifice high printing speed or flexibility.
Next, Co Print is also planning to develop a kit for the Creality K2, a model aimed more at professional users.
