COBOD signs on PERI as distributor in Germany, Switzerland and Austria for 3D construction printers

Danish COBOD International is most known for having 3D printed the first fully permitted building in Europe, the BOD in Copenhagen. COBOD is now accelerating and fuelling the inroads into the global mainstream construction market even more. Following shortly after COBOD in the last few weeks has announced the sales of the largest mobile 3D construction printer in the world to Saudi Arabia, the appointment of a distributor in Dubai, and the delivery of a 10*10*10 meter printer to Belgium, COBOD has now announced that PERI Group has been appointed as their exclusive distributor for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets.

German PERI Group is a leading player in the German, Austrian and Swiss formwork, scaffolding and construction markets with more than 20 locations in the three countries. At the world leading construction machinery equipment exhibition, bauma, in Munich from April 8-14, PERI will have their own exhibition hall measuring more than 4.000 square meters and usually get around 180.000 visitors during the exhibition. PERI and COBOD will exhibit together providing COBOD an unprecedented exposure and access to the mainstream conventional construction industry.

Henrik Lund-Nielsen, CEO of COBOD International said: “We are extremely proud to be able to appoint PERI as our exclusive distributor for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. PERI has significant distribution power in these markets and the distribution agreement with PERI will assure that thousands of conventional construction companies will be exposed and get access to our technology”. Henrik Lund-Nielsen continued: “Peri will both sell our printers and offer them via rental, which is new. Being able to offer the customers the chance to rent our technology before they commit to buying it, is a huge step not only for us, but for the entire 3D construction printing industry. This is the first time renting of 3D construction printing equipment is made possible on a large scale and marks another important milestone towards making 3D construction printing part of the mainstream conventional construction industry.”

Already last year, when the investment of PERI into COBOD was announced, it became clear that PERI had large ambitions with their investment. It now transpires that these ambitions include making the leading 3D construction printing technology manufactured by COBOD available to PERI’s customers.

Leonhard Braig, Member of PERI Group Management and responsible for Products & Technology, – explained: “When we made the investment in COBOD last year we made it clear that we believe that the 3D construction technology of COBOD is ready for the general construction market. Following the first successful delivery of COBOD’s high speed second generation BOD2 3D construction earlier this year to Belgium we are now following up on that, by making COBOD’s BOD2 printers available to all our German, Austrian and Swiss customers. Not only will we be selling the printers of COBOD, but we will also have large scale printers available for rent such that our customers will not have to invest in a printer themselves to try on this new and revolutionizing technology”.

To mark the new distribution partnership between COBOD and PERI, COBOD will be exhibited at PERI’s 4.000 square meter stand on bauma. PERI are used to more than 180.000 visitors during the exhibition and the many visitors will be exposed to COBOD’s offer. COBOD will a.o. be exhibiting a curved wall section printed with ready-made 3D printable concrete developed in cooperation with and supplied by Italcementi belonging to HeidelbergCement.

Henrik Lund-Nielsen added: “Being present at bauma is new for us and the large exposure to the conventional construction industry is a great opportunity. With the massive size of the exhibition and the extreme high number of visitors, we are really now getting full access and exposure to the conventional construction industry. We want to make 3D construction printing mainstream, and the presence at bauma and the distribution agreement with PERI, providing potential customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland our printers backed by PERI, marks a really important milestone towards reaching that goal”.
