The Italian companies Comau and Roboze have announced a partnership aimed at automating additive manufacturing processes for industrial applications. The aim of the cooperation is to facilitate access to affordable, robot-assisted production technology – especially for industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy and motorsport, where individual and complex components are increasingly in demand.

The focus is on the integration of Roboze’s high-temperature 3D printing systems with Comau’s automation and robotics solutions. The joint platform is intended to enable demand-oriented production in which both small and medium-sized series can be implemented without manual changeover processes. The combination of automated motion sequences with the precise melt layering process enables the production of components made from technical polymers with high geometric complexity, which conventional processes cannot reproduce or can only reproduce to a limited extent.

“The combined expertise and technologies of Comau and Roboze, two Italian companies capable of delivering cutting-edge solutions to international markets, allow us to offer customers innovative solutions that integrate automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing,” said Giacomo Del Panta, Chief Customer Management Officer of Comau. “We are confident this collaboration can bring tangible benefits to manufacturing processes across numerous industrial sectors. Fully aligned with our growth and diversification strategy, it marks another concrete solution that will contribute to our global growth trajectory.”

“We could not have asked for a better counterpart than Comau, a leading company in the world of robotics and automation. Integrating our advanced 3D printing technologies with Comau’s robotic solutions presents a unique value proposition for global industry. Through this partnership, we’re poised to drive a meaningful transformation in our clients’ manufacturing capabilities, enabling them to be more innovative, agile, and sustainable,” said Alessio Lorusso, CEO of Roboze.

The initiative also addresses the growing interest in reshoring strategies. Locally applicable, automated printing solutions can shorten supply chains and reduce material losses. The cooperation could therefore establish itself as a practicable building block in sustainable production concepts, particularly where high production quality needs to be combined with adaptability. Further details on specific applications have not yet been provided, but initial pilot projects are already being planned, according to the companies.
