Indian manufacturer Deltasys E-Forming aims to make access to additive construction processes much easier for educational institutions and research facilities with a new tabletop device for 3D printing concrete. The compact R&D 3D printer has been specially designed for use in laboratory environments and addresses typical hurdles such as high acquisition costs, large footprints and complex infrastructure requirements.
The system offers an installation space of 600 x 600 x 600 millimetres and is aimed at universities and institutes working on new building materials and digital manufacturing methods. The integrated material mixer and a precise dosing system allow the processing of cement-based materials and support experiments on rheology, thixotropy, buildability and strength. The device thus enables practical research with cementitious pastes, mortar or clay mixtures, including the use of fibers such as glass or carbon.
A separate control system with an 18-inch screen, robust drive components and a CNC-manufactured portal structure form the technical basis for precise and repeatable results. The printer can process CAD models directly, enabling a continuous digital workflow from design to the actual component. In addition to research, the system also offers didactic added value, for example for degree courses in construction, architecture or materials science.
“Our aim was simple—build a lab-friendly Concrete 3D Printer that empowers students and researchers to experiment, innovate, and contribute to the future of sustainable construction”, said Virendra Kadam, CEO and Founder of Deltasys E-Forming
The continuous operational capability over several weeks and the modular material processing also support long-term research projects. With its introduction at international universities such as Southern Illinois University, the system is already demonstrating its relevance for modern engineering training and sustainable building material development.
