Continuum Powders, a company specializing in sustainable metal powders for additive manufacturing, is adding Christine Furstoss, former Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at GE Aerospace, to its advisory board. With more than 30 years of experience in materials engineering, manufacturing innovation and industrial scaling, she will help sharpen the company’s strategic direction in the field of metal powders for 3D printing applications.
Furstoss played a key role in building GE Additive and is familiar with the entire process chain from powder through qualification to series production. At GE Research, she led, as Vice President & Technical Director for Materials and Manufacturing, a global team of around 500 researchers who developed solutions for aerospace, energy and medical technology. This combination of materials science expertise and organizational practice is highly relevant for suppliers of metal powders who aim to place their products in safety-critical applications.
“Christine’s impact on the manufacturing industry is remarkable,” said Rizk Ghafari, COO of Continuum Powders. “Her strategic mindset, entrepreneurial approach, and deep technical expertise align perfectly with our mission as we scale sustainable, high-performance metal powder solutions. Her experience bridging innovation, product readiness, and organizational excellence will be invaluable as we expand globally and partner more deeply with customers across critical industries.”
In addition to her technical career, Furstoss is committed to modernizing manufacturing work and promoting women in STEM professions. She has served on several bodies, including the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence and the National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
“Continuum Powders is advancing a powerful vision for the future of manufacturing, one rooted in sustainability, innovation, quality, and collaboration,” Christine Furstoss said. “I look forward to partnering with the team to help strengthen global metal supply chains and support the development of next-generation materials and technologies. Their focus on responsible materials production and circular manufacturing reflects exactly the type of forward-looking strategy our industry needs.”
With Furstoss, Adrian Keppler (formerly EOS) and Mark Comerford (Haynes International), the advisory board brings together a broad spectrum of experience in additive manufacturing, specialty alloys and large-scale industrial projects. For Continuum, these are key building blocks in positioning itself in the growing market for metal powders in 3D printing.
