Continuum Powders and Renishaw have announced a major collaboration to make additive manufacturing more sustainable. As part of this partnership, Continuum’s metal powders have been officially certified for use on Renishaw’s RenAM-500 series. This certification confirms the high quality and compatibility of the recycled powders and paves the way for a circular economy in 3D printing.
“The quality of Continuum Powders’ materials and their commitment to what they call the circular metal economy align perfectly with Renishaw’s vision for a more sustainable manufacturing future,” said John Laureto, AM Business Manager at Renishaw, Inc. “The availability of reclaimed metal powders that meet our exacting standards helps manufacturers reduce waste while maintaining peak performance.”
In particular, the ability to use recycled powders with consistently high performance helps manufacturers to reduce material waste while maintaining production quality. This is a crucial step towards sustainable manufacturing practices that are increasingly demanded by the industry.
Continuum Powders’ CEO, Rob Higby, also commented on the collaboration: “We are thrilled to have our reclaimed powders qualified for the RenAM 500 series. This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions to the market, and we look forward to further developing reclaimed powders that help customers achieve both their performance and environmental goals.”
The collaboration with Renishaw is part of a broader commitment by Continuum to drive the use of high-performance recycled powders in additive manufacturing. These materials are specifically designed to ensure the quality and durability of printed parts while minimizing the environmental impact of production.
At Formnext 2024, Continuum Powders will showcase a part used in the oil and gas industry that was produced using a RenAM-500 system. This development underlines the practical application of sustainable metal powders and their potential to gain a foothold in demanding industries. The collaboration with Renishaw thus marks an important milestone in the development of additive manufacturing towards a more sustainable future.
