Cooksongold to Launch Platinum Advanced Metal Powder for 3D Printing

British supplier of precious metal products, Cooksongold, will debut their new platinum advanced metal powder at the Baselword Jewellery Fair this week.

The 950 Pt/Ru (platinum) material will be launched in collaboration with Platinum Guild International (PGI) and is designed for use in the Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing system, the Precious M 080 by EOS. It will allow jewellery designers to create unique platinum designs using additive manufacturing technology for the first time.

David Fletcher, Business Development Manager at Cooksongold, explained: “This is one of the most revolutionary developments for the 3D printing technology. Helping to eliminate the common problems associated with casting platinum, it will become vital for bespoke and low volume platinum jewellery production.”

Platinum complements the company’s existing portfolio of 18k 3N yellow gold, 18k white gold, 18k 5N red gold and Brilliante 925 silver with anti tarnish properties. Additionally, Cooksongold is currently developing new powders, including base metals and other carat gold alloys, which will be released throughout 2016.
