Creaform announces Pro version for Scan-to-CAD module

Creaform, an AMETEK company, has introduced Scan-to-CAD Pro, an enhanced version of its software for processing 3D scan data. The new module within the Creaform Metrology Suite enables more efficient integration of 3D scanners into CAD systems and optimizes the reverse engineering process.

Scan-to-CAD has been serving as an interface between 3D scan data and CAD software since 2014. With the new Pro version, the module has been given extended functions for mesh processing, more flexible alignment and improved feature extraction. The aim is to speed up the conversion of point clouds into CAD models and reduce the processing effort. This could significantly simplify the design process, particularly in product development and manufacturing.

A key innovation is the integrated 2D sketching and 3D modeling function. This allows geometries to be created and processed directly within the software without the need for additional external CAD programs. This is particularly helpful for companies that need to manage complex reverse engineering tasks but do not want to invest in complete CAD solutions.

“Until now, converting raw data from scans into a CAD file was tedious,” explains David Robichaud, Product Manager at Creaform. Scan-to-CAD Pro makes reverse engineering available to companies and users who don’t want to invest time or resources in advanced CAD software. We are offering a completely new option.”

“We were among the first manufacturers of 3D scanners 20 years ago, providing world-class customer service and constant innovation,” said Fanny Truchon, President of Creaform. “We are a recognized leader in reverse engineering and offer an unparalleled 360° complete solution for 3D scanning.”

The software is designed for various industries, including automotive, aerospace and mechanical engineering. Manufacturers in particular benefit from the time-saving processing of highly complex components. In combination with Creaform’s portable 3D scanners, the result is an integrated solution for reverse engineering and quality control.

Creaform emphasizes that the further development of the scan-to-CAD software is based on the company’s many years of experience in the field of 3D measurement technology. “We were early adopters of high-precision 3D scanners and are continuously developing our software to provide optimum support for industrial applications,” explains Fanny Truchon, President of Creaform. With the new Pro version, the company offers an even more efficient solution for converting scan data into CAD models, making it easier for companies to implement their digital workflows.
