Creality postpones release of K2 3D printer due to supply chain issues

3D printer manufacturer Creality has postponed the delivery of its new flagship model K2. The device announced in April, the successor to the successful K1 series, is characterised by an above-average build volume of 350 x 350 x 350 mm.

Another special feature of the K2 is the optional multi-colour printing function. This is made possible by the new Creality Filament System (CFS), which can process up to four different filament spools during one printing process. The combined offer of printer and CFS was originally intended to be launched on the market for 1499 US dollars.

Creality has now informed pre-order customers of delays in delivery. The company cites ‘global supply chain issues’ as the reason, which have led to unforeseen challenges in production and logistics. The first deliveries are now expected to take place from 8 November 2024, with an estimated delivery time of seven days after shipping.

This delay could indicate industry-wide difficulties in the procurement of components. Especially when producing large quantities, as planned for the K2, such bottlenecks can quickly lead to delays.

As compensation for the waiting time, Creality is offering affected customers a lifetime VIP membership, which includes a permanent discount of 10 per cent in the Creality Store.
