British design studio Duffy London has added 3D-printed wall tiles to its Abyss collection. Called Abyss Wall Tile, the tiles feature customizable designs.
According to Duffy London, the tiles are based on a mathematical tiling system that allows for different rotations and pattern combinations. Each of the three tiles can be rotated in three orientations to create unique looks.
Fabrication is made of Plexiglas, recycled plastic and stainless steel. Precise details and individualized patterns are applied to the tiles using 3D printing. According to Duffy London, this allows for more efficient production than traditional methods.
The modular approach allows the 3D-printed tiles to be flexibly combined and scaled. Customers can thus implement their desired design. The collection combines handcrafted manufacturing with the possibilities of the digital manufacturing age.
