As part of an asset deal effective April 1, 2026, DIAMANT Polymer GmbH will acquire the entire product business of SKC Gleittechnik GmbH. Through this transaction, development, production, quality assurance, and sales of the well-known SKC sliding coatings will transfer to DIAMANT, while SKC will continue to operate as a service provider for the processing of these materials at its Rödental site. Both companies are thus pursuing a stronger focus on their respective core competencies.
For users in mechanical engineering, maintenance, and increasingly also in additive manufacturing, the product portfolio will remain unchanged. Sliding and separation joint coatings from SKC will continue to be available in the same specifications, but will in future be distributed by DIAMANT.
“DIAMANT stands for quality, innovative strength, and reliability. Even within a new structure, it is important to us to ensure clear responsibilities and long-term stability for our customers. We look forward to continuing this journey together in a new structure,” said Carsten Kunde, Managing Director at DIAMANT. The products can be purchased via the Mönchengladbach-based company.
From a technological perspective, the acquisition is also relevant for 3D printing. Polymer-based sliding and coating systems are gaining importance in additive manufacturing processes, for example in the post-processing of metal and polymer components or in the production of wear-resistant functional surfaces. DIAMANT has many years of experience with low-viscosity resin systems for impregnating porous structures, as commonly found in additively manufactured parts. With the integrated SKC product business, these systems can now be more specifically combined with tribological coatings.
SKC, in turn, will focus in future on application-oriented material processing. This includes applying sliding coatings to guides and machine elements, which is also relevant for hybrid manufacturing chains combining 3D printing and conventional machining. The separation of product development and services is intended to simplify processes and shorten development cycles.
In the long term, this realignment strengthens DIAMANT’s position in markets where additive manufacturing, coating technology, and classical industrial applications are increasingly converging. For users, this means continuity in products while simultaneously benefiting from a stronger consolidation of materials expertise under a single provider.
