DigiFabster: Efficient quotation management for additive manufacturing – Interview with Const Ivanov

DigiFabster, a technology provider specializing in additive manufacturing, CNC, and sheet metal services, is advancing the efficiency of the complex quoting and order management process for manufacturing businesses. The system is structured as a plug-and-play solution to help shops automate labour-intensive tasks, streamline workflows and efficiently scale operations. In an interview with 3Druck.com, founder and CEO Const Ivanov talks about the benefits of quoting software in helping additive manufacturing companies manage complex customer requirements, scale production, and transition smoothly from prototyping to production.

One of DigiFabster’s standout features is its CAD file analysis tool, which evaluates uploaded designs for manufacturability. This ensures that parts are production-ready and reduces errors before fabrication begins. Paired with real-time pricing updates, the platform provides instant, accurate quotes that consider factors like material usage, geometry, and labor costs—eliminating the need for time-consuming manual calculations.

The system also incorporates advanced design-for-manufacturability (DFM) checks, offering actionable feedback to customers during the quoting process. This feature not only enhances customer satisfaction but also reduces iterations, allowing shops to focus on production rather than extensive pre-manufacturing communication.

For businesses navigating the transition from prototyping to full-scale production, DigiFabster provides a seamless way to manage orders, payments, and customer communications. Its compatibility with existing enterprise systems, including ERP and CRM platforms, ensures flexibility and integration into diverse workflows.

Additionally, the platform’s API enables shops to customize its functionality, making it a scalable solution for both small businesses and large enterprises. With features like payment processing and repeat order support, DigiFabster is equipping manufacturers with the tools to handle increasing demand while maintaining operational precision.

The recently launched AI Quote Agent is an AI-powered tool designed to streamline the quoting process through automated workflows and precise CAD-based analysis. This innovative solution is currently in its beta phase.

Interview with Const Ivanov

In an interview with 3Druck.com, Const Ivanov, founder and CEO of DigiFabster, discusses how their software simplifies and automates quoting, order management, and production workflows for additive manufacturing companies. He highlights the platform’s ability to support businesses as they scale from prototyping to mass production, integrating advanced features like real-time pricing and design-for-manufacturability checks to enhance efficiency and meet complex customer requirements.

What benefits does quoting software offer additive manufacturing companies as they scale production and manage complex customer requirements?

DigiFabster founder and CEO Const Ivanov

Quoting software is a total game-changer for additive manufacturing companies, especially as they scale. When you’re working with complex parts and custom requirements, the back-and-forth quoting process alone can be a massive time drain. Software like DigiFabster streamlines this whole headache, offering instant pricing, real-time DFM feedback, and a seamless path from quote to production. Essentially, it lets teams focus on the actual work—scaling production, meeting unique demands, and getting quality parts out the door faster—while keeping customers happy.

How does DigiFabster’s software address the challenges of scaling from one-off prototyping to mass production in the additive manufacturing industry?

Scaling from prototyping to full-on production is tricky, no doubt. DigiFabster’s software is built to bridge that gap by automating quoting, ordering, invoicing, payments and managing order status in production to the level of line item. When you’re handling everything from small custom orders to larger runs, you need a system that can flex with you—something that can give quick, accurate quotes for one-offs and manage complex orders when you scale up. We’re taking the manual guesswork out, so shops can transition smoothly as their business grows.

Our latest updates to the order management system and API allow our customers to utilize DigiFabster as a lightweight production planning and communication system. On top of that, we partnered with industry-leading MES systems such as CO-AM and offer seamless integration.

Additive manufacturing has advanced significantly in recent years. What are some of the latest advancements Digifabster has implemented to enhance workflow efficiency for AM businesses?

Additive manufacturing has indeed made great strides, and at DigiFabster, we’re constantly evolving our platform to help AM businesses keep pace with these advancements. Lately, we’ve leaned into features that really cut down time and boost efficiency.

One of our biggest updates involves improved geometry recognition for instant quoting. This allows AM companies to process complex parts more accurately and quickly, reducing the need for manual review and ensuring customers get precise quotes almost instantly. Additionally, our recent API expansions offer even greater flexibility by enabling seamless integrations with other systems like ERPs and CRMs, as well as building entirely custom applications so shops can tailor DigiFabster’s tools to their exact workflow needs.

We’ve also made updates to our customer portal to support repeat orders, ideal for companies handling ongoing production runs. The enhancements make it easier for clients to reorder, view past jobs, and track current projects, which simplifies the process and keeps the focus on customer satisfaction. On top of that, we rolled out DF Pay, our integrated payment processing solution, that streamlines the quoting-to-payment process, enabling customers to pay directly through the platform with credit card (CC), ACH and 40+ local payment methods, automating payment collection, supporting PO and NET terms and much more.

Our pricing algorithms have been refined to offer more competitive and precise pricing, taking into account everything from material use to labor costs. This helps AM businesses set prices that are both profitable and attractive to clients. Alongside that, we’ve added advanced reporting and analytics tools that give companies insights into their quoting and production data, which can be used to make data-driven improvements.

Lastly, we’ve worked to improve the speed of large file processing, a must-have for AM companies working with highly detailed designs. This means our platform now handles high-resolution models faster, ensuring a smooth experience for customers from upload to final quote.

Looking ahead, what impact do you foresee additive manufacturing having on various industries, and possibly on society as a whole?

Additive manufacturing is going to be huge, not just for production but for solving real-world problems. We’re talking about reshaping industries from medical to aerospace and even beyond that. AM is allowing for insane customization, faster lead times, and more sustainable processes—it’s a tool that gives control back to manufacturers, enabling innovations we haven’t even thought of yet. Long-term, I think it’s going to change the way we make and think about products, from everyday items to mission-critical components.
