With the launch of PartsVault, the British 3D printing services company 3D People has created a platform that combines digital inventory management with additive manufacturing. The aim is to minimize production downtime due to unstable supply chains and enable companies to produce spare parts locally and in line with demand. The application has met with a broad response, particularly in times of geopolitical tensions and growing uncertainty.
PartsVault is based on a cloud model in which customers securely store design data for their components. Production is only triggered when it is actually needed – on site and without detours via international logistics chains. Production takes place at 3D People’s own ISO 9001-certified plant in the UK. This not only eliminates the need for warehousing and pre-production, but also the dependence on imports or external suppliers.
“For years, companies have been talking about the need to build resilience into their supply chains. PartsVault is our answer to that, a real, working solution that fits the world we’re living in now”, says Sasha Bruml, Co-Founder of 3D People.
For international companies looking to supply the UK market, PartsVault allows localized production without the need to invest in their own infrastructure.
“Traditional stockpiling strategies are struggling to hold up in the current geopolitical climate. PartsVault lets manufacturers keep control without tying up capital or taking unnecessary risks,” adds Felix Manley, Co-Founder of 3D People. “We’ve seen first-hand how on-demand production can shift the balance in favour of speed, flexibility, and smarter decision-making.”
The 3D People concept is less about short-term trends and more about the structural evolution of existing manufacturing and warehousing strategies. It combines digital management with physical production and thus offers a resilient approach to the challenges of modern supply chains.
