MakerWorld, Bambu Lab’s model platform, is taking action against alleged copyright infringements on third-party platforms. In a community post dated October 10, 2025, the team describes cases in which exclusive MakerWorld models were copied without consent and republished on Creality Cloud, Nexprint, and MakerOnline. In some cases, accounts are said to have imitated the creators. In addition, models appeared in advertising materials despite “non-commercial” or “no derivatives” licenses.
MakerWorld reports that it has received repeated reports from affected designers and the community. Many informal attempts at clarification have not led to lasting results. Therefore, formal legal action has been taken. A lawsuit has been filed directly against Creality Cloud and Nexprint; an official letter was sent to MakerOnline in advance, to which there has been no response.
According to MakerWorld, MakerOnline has removed about half of the reported content. At the same time, accounts with unauthorized uploads continue to exist. In addition, there is evidence that models marked as “exclusive” by MakerWorld are still circulating on Creality Cloud. The aim of the measures is not confrontation, but to enforce the license terms set by the copyright holders.
The debate touches on a sore point in the 3D model ecosystem: files are easy to copy, and license texts are often ignored or misunderstood. MakerWorld had already announced an “Exclusive Model Program” in 2024, including legal support to help designers with violations outside its own platform.
Creality Cloud, meanwhile, publicly refers to processes for reporting and removing violations and offers a form for copyright infringement notices. The platform emphasizes that it takes action against abuse. It remains to be seen how effective these procedures will be in the cases described above.
MakerWorld promises a more comprehensive protection system that combines faster detection, easier enforcement, and stricter sanctions.
