DyeMansion acquires ASM and expands portfolio with entry-level system for vapor smoothing

DyeMansion has acquired Munich-based company ASM to expand its portfolio in the field of post-processing additive manufactured plastic parts. The acquisition adds the entry-level VX1 solution, which is aimed at smaller production environments, to the provider’s range of vapor smoothing systems. DyeMansion now covers three performance classes – from entry-level to industrial high-end systems.

Vapor smoothing is currently the largest sub-sector of post-processing in 3D printing and is used to smooth and compact the surfaces of polymer components. With the integration of the ASM VX1 system, DyeMansion’s portfolio will now include the VX1, Powerfuse S Manual, and Powerfuse S Automatic models. According to CEO and co-founder Felix Ewald, the acquisition will further strengthen the company’s market position and contribute to consolidation in the industry. The two companies have been working together in a sales partnership since 2023.

Founded in 2021, ASM introduced the VX1 system in 2024. According to DyeMansion, the system has established itself primarily among service providers and development teams that process small quantities or prototypes. Customers include the service company Formrise and the healthcare provider Goodsleep. The VX1 is designed as a plug-and-play system, offers a compact design and a large process chamber compared to other devices.

An environmentally friendly, reusable solvent cartridge system is used for operation. The solvent is non-toxic, PFAS-free, and contains no carcinogenic or particularly persistent substances. It therefore meets DyeMansion’s sustainability requirements. The system processes common materials such as PA12, PA11, and TPU and can be integrated into DyeMansion’s “print-to-product” workflow, which also includes cleaning and dyeing steps.

At Formnext 2025 in Frankfurt from November 18 to 21, DyeMansion plans to present other new products in addition to the VX1. Under the motto “More DyeMansion – more efficient,” the company will demonstrate how its expanded solutions help reduce the overall costs of post-processing.
