Elegoo is expanding its range of materials with three new fiber-reinforced filaments that are of particular interest to users working with the Centauri Carbon 3D printer. The company has introduced PETG-CF, PETG-GF and PAHT-CF. These filaments combine polymer bases with short carbon or glass fibers, thus increasing the stiffness and strength of the components.
PETG-CF mixes PETG with carbon fibers and is available in grey or black. PETG-GF is based on glass fibers and is available in black, white or grey. PAHT-CF is based on heat-resistant nylon and is only available in black. The prices are particularly striking: Elegoo charges 18.99 US dollars per kilogram for both PETG-CF and PETG-GF, while PAHT-CF is priced at 39.99 US dollars.
Elegoo wants to make access to fiber-reinforced materials easier with this pricing policy. In the company’s own survey, the majority of respondents stated that high costs and little experience were the biggest obstacles to using such filaments. The Centauri Carbon has the necessary specifications to process these materials stably. These include a hardened steel nozzle head and optimized temperature control.
The price advantage is particularly noticeable in larger production environments.
