Chinese 3D printer manufacturer Elegoo is expanding its 3D printer portfolio with the Centauri Carbon. This is a CoreXY model that combines high printing speed with a compact, closed housing. With a printing speed of up to 500 mm/s and an acceleration of 20,000 mm/s², the device joins the class of fast FDM printers.
The printer relies on stable CoreXY kinematics, which ensure high precision and low inertia. A powerful mainboard with a dual-core processor controls the movements and is designed to ensure smooth printing processes. In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, the Centauri Carbon also offers OTA firmware updates.
According to Elegoo, particular attention has been paid to user-friendliness. Functions include a filament runout sensor, a resume function after a power failure and an automatic filament cutter. The heated print bed reaches a temperature of up to 110 °C and has a surface that can be used on both sides – a smooth and a textured side. The filament holder is attached to the side of the housing.
The print volume is 256 x 256 x 256 mm, the nozzle reaches a maximum temperature of 320 °C, which means that high-temperature materials such as ABS, ASA and filaments reinforced with carbon fibers can also be processed. The machine is operated via a 4.3-inch touchscreen.
Pre-orders are due to start shortly, although Elegoo has not yet announced the final price.
