ENCY 2.0 Expands 3D Printing and Manufacturing Platform with AI-Based Process Planning

With ENCY 2.0, software developer ENCY Software has introduced a comprehensively redesigned version of its CAD/CAM and manufacturing ecosystem. The new generation of the platform unifies additive and subtractive manufacturing processes within a single environment, aiming to make the entire production workflow — from design to robot-assisted machining — more efficient and flexible.

A key feature of the update is the enhanced additive manufacturing workflow. The Non-Planar Slicer now supports IGES and STEP data formats for more precise layer management and faster toolpath generation. Users can define custom start points, offset them per layer, and set complex tool orientations using normals, vectors, or guiding geometries. A new minimum layer time function ensures uniform material curing, while adaptive feed control in corners prevents overheating and material buildup. Additionally, new infill structures — including line, grid, and triangle patterns — have been added to provide better control over mechanical properties and surface quality.

In parallel, the milling module has been overhauled. An intelligent cutting data management system dynamically adjusts spindle speed and feed rate according to the material, tool, and machining strategy. Newly introduced Printability Maps and a Material Removal Diagram visualize process stability, enabling targeted optimization of manufacturing parameters.

A major focus of ENCY 2.0 is automation through artificial intelligence. The AI Process Planner analyzes 3D models and existing project data to suggest machining strategies, which users can then refine manually. All data processing takes place locally, ensuring intellectual property security. The system is complemented by an updated ENCY Tuner, which allows configuration of G-code interpreters without programming knowledge, and by an expanded API for deep integration with PLM and automation systems.

With ENCY 2.0, the platform positions itself as a comprehensive tool for hybrid manufacturing environments, where additive and subtractive processes are increasingly converging.
